There is particular emphasis placed on the geology and geomorphogy of the Zagros Mountains , a fold belt culminating in the 15000 ft Zard kub and kul-e Dina ranges.

The tours are led by Dr. Harry McQuillan who spent 20 years geologically mapping in the region as an exploration geologist and a former professor at shiraz.

In addition to seeing some superb geology the tour includes visits toarchaeological sites including persepolis, while visits to shiraz and Isfahan provide a glimpse of persian culture and Islamic Architecture and Art.
